(Diversity refers to the vast array of social, physical and cultural differences among us that shape how we think and behave.)

WHAT "starting something" CAN DO...
Children who spend time with a mentor gain confidence, acquire new skills and competencies, and develop an enhanced capacity to care for others.  Mentors experience a sense of discovery and enjoyment as they see the world of possibility open up through a child's eye.
WHO ARE LITTLE BROTHERS & LITTLE SISTERS...
They are great kids anxiously waiting to have fun with someone like you.  Their ages range from 6 to 16, and all are excited to be a part of this program. If you ever wanted to be a kid again, your Little Brother or Little Sister will be happy to help you out.  That's the magic of the program - you learn from each other.

BIG BROTHERS...   Being a Big Brothers can be as much fun as it sounds.  You get to build model airplanes, toss around the football, play computer games, hang out...whatever!  It's about sharing a little time together - a few hours a week or every couple of weeks will make a big difference.  You'll see.

BIG SISTERS...Every girl needs a Big Sister to share with, talk to or confide in.  Whether it's playing sports, learning a new craft or just goofing around, you'll make a big difference in each other's life.  You'll both be forever changed by the experience.

After the enrolment process, we'll provide training and match you with a Little Brother or Little Sister who shares your interests.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS...
IN-SCHOOL MENTORING...   It's a small commitment that makes a big difference.  Become a mentor to a child in a school environment.  You'll help build a child's self-esteem and school performance while having a lot of fun.  And it only takes one hour a week during the school year.  One child.  One hour a week.  One big reason to go back to school.

INTERGENERATIONAL MENTORING...  This program encourages caring adults to share their wealth of kinowledge and life skills with children in our community.  Aged 50 plus retirees/seniors enhance the self-esteem of children through postive relationships.   Spending an hour or two a week or every other week with a child can make a world of difference in that child's life.  Watching that child grow and become happier can be very rewarding.  Retirees/seniors can assist us with mentoing children to become the future leaders of our community.

GROUP MENTORING...  Imagine a group of kids and adults baking, playing sports, going on picnics or doing crafts together.  That's Group Mentoring.  We'll plan the activities, all you have to do is show up once a week and enjoy spending time with a bunch of amazing kids.

COUPLES FOR KIDS...  The Couples for Kids program matches a Little Brother or Little Sister with a caring couple.  All three of you will enjoy activites such as painting, playng games or just talking about your day.  An just in case you get held up at work, your partner can still be there for your Little Brother or Little Sister.
